Hey guys!! Welcome to flower brackets blog. Here in this post you will learn what is sitemap and how to add sitemap link in wordpress footer.
Well, after learning the concepts of web designing and seo made me write this post regarding sitemap. Also I will be showing you steps involved (with images) in adding sitemap link in WordPress website.
How to add sitemap in wordpress footer?
Basically sitemap is an Extensible Markup Language (XML) file. It consists list of pages, usually URLs for a site organized in a hierarchical convention. It interacts with search engine on how often the website has been updated.
Follow the steps below:
Step 1: Login to your website,
Step 2 : Go to appearance and then select menus
Step 3 : In the menus page first select “Footer(Footer Menu)” in the drop down and click on “Select” button.
Step 4 : Now click on “Custom Links” tab. In “URL” text box enter your sitemap URL. Sitemap will be in format https://www.yourdomainname/sitemap_index.xml and in “Link Text” text box enter Sitemap. Now click on “Add Menu” button.
Step 5 : After clicking on “Add to Menu” button in the previous step, now you can see custom link added to “Menu Structure”. Make sure that you have clicked the “Footer Menu” check box in “Menu Settings” and click on “Save Menu” button. See image below,
Step 6 : In the final step you can check whether the “Sitemap” link has been added to your website by hovering your mouse on top left corner, (exactly on home icon). Click on “Visit Site”.
This is what you see after clicking on “Visit Site”. Scroll down to see your “Sitemap” link.
